One of the hardest moments of motherhood for me was nursing my daughter. The idea of breastfeeding was always glamorized in my mind. Mothers breastfeeding with ease, pain free—happy. Part of my experience was not as so. It was painful, exhausting, and by far the hardest challenge I’ve had in my life. That being said, it was also one of the most rewarding. This piece is to reveal the true, raw feeling that encompassed me while nursing the first few months. As rewarding as it was, it was also lonely and painful.
